Deeply saddened

I am so shocked this week by the deaths of two good men in their 50’s.  One, Michael Spencer, I only knew through his writing although we did happen to correspond a couple of times.   His essays were very, very helpful to me; he often wrote out the very same turmoil about the typical evangelical takes on things that I was experiencing but which I didn’t know it was ok to say out loud.

The other man I knew in life, through my old church.  Another good man of strong beliefs – I didn’t share all his strong beliefs and opinions but I admired how he worked at living a life that reflected his beliefs.  While Michael had a few short months to adjust to his diagnosis of cancer, this other man had a sudden, fatal heart attack.  What a terrible shock his family and close friends must be experiencing.

I thank God for their lives and pray their wives and children and friends will be comforted in the days, weeks, and years ahead.

About katiekind

Enjoying the second half of life. I have three sons who are the apples of my eye and a wonderful husband of 35 years--those are the important things. Long ago, out of the blue, I became a Christian. It was something I never planned on, but what joy it has been. I do website development and I like to read and garden and paint and I love beauty and truth.
