A few days after Christmas we had the honor of having all three sons here for dinner plus one son’s girlfriend. Although we had the same crew the night before, I was worn out and all I could pull together was a turkey soup. Then we went out and saw Sherlock Holmes, which was delightful.
But the next night, the desire to cook returned, and I made a standing rib roast, mashed potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, spinach au gratin (basically a creamed spinach with gruyere and parmesan cheese on top) and Scott made his Caesar salad (and mashed the potatoes! And carved the roast!) The wine went superbly with it, and that’s actually why I am posting–so as not to forget. The wine was Los Vascos Grand Reserva, and it was so delicious with the meal.
