Following Scot McKnight’s practice, I think I will start posting a prayer of the week. These prayers come from the Book of Common Prayer in the Anglican tradition (and maybe other traditions as well) and are offered near the beginning of the worship service on Sunday as well as in the daily prayers the following week. They are simple supplications but cover some basic things we may forget to pray for, as well as directing our minds to remember who our God is and what he is like.
O God, whose Son Jesus is the good shepherd of your people: Grant that when we hear his voice we may know him who calls us each by name, and follow where he leads; who, with you and the Holy Spirit, lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
