Red hearts and silly puns…my Valentine’s Day expectations were shaped in elementary school.
I like this example of “bee mine” Valentine sentiment, a sub-genre of the ever-popular child-intelligible pun genre. I used to love to bring my collection of Valentine cards home from school and pore over them. I especially liked the ones with glitter highlights on them.
I think these Valentines are a few years too early to have actually been sent or received by me in those beloved classroom Valentine exchanges, but in the 60’s there were certainly still spaceman cards and of course the timeless Bee Mine theme was always well represented in my annual haul of Valentine’s cards.
But my husband transcends all that and brings me roses. He surprised me with a trio of lovely red roses this morning. They look so perfect and beautiful and make me happy that spring is, indeed, coming and we have many more roses to look forward to in the coming months. The economy can do whatever it does, and the flowers will still bloom.
Ain’t that the truth!
*mush, mush*
My Hubby brought me coconut rum. . .
That sounds so Florida!
