The good neighbor award goes to…

…our neighbor, Mike.

The other day, after the storm, he and Scott had fired up their chainsaws and worked away cutting up branches from our downed tree limbs while D18 hauled the trimmings around the house and out to the curb.  But eventually both chainsaws quit working.

Today Scott worked for awhile at trying to fix the chainsaw but when that worked he declared he was going to go out and cut those branches like a man–with a handsaw.  So off he went.  Not long after that I’m hearing a chainsaw and voices.  Mike apparently spotted Scott and came over again with his chainsaw.  They are working away out there.  This is not the first time Mike has been over to lend a hand with this kind of thing.  Several years ago, one of our large maple trees came down in a storm and Mike was over next day with his chain saw.

On top of that, he has brought us vegetables out of his garden all summer and leftover pork from his smoker, and done various other down home, nice neighborly things for us.   When we grow up, we’d like to be more like him in the good neighbor department!

About katiekind

Enjoying the second half of life. I have three sons who are the apples of my eye and a wonderful husband of 35 years--those are the important things. Long ago, out of the blue, I became a Christian. It was something I never planned on, but what joy it has been. I do website development and I like to read and garden and paint and I love beauty and truth.
